JUNE 12: WE ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY PLANNED PROTEST IN Lagos - POLICE

The Lagos State Police Command wishes to state clearly that it is not aware of any planned protest in Lagos State to commemorate the 2021 Democracy Day on Saturday, 12th June, 2021. In a PRESS release signed by the Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Police Command, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, appealed to members of the public to disregard any sit-at-home order called by certain groups which is being circulated in the social media and he asked them to go about their lawful businesses as the police and other security agencies have made necessary arrangement to maintain law and order across the state. In another development, the Commissioner of Police has formed special Squads to go after traffic robbers who have been terrorising innocent Lagosians and get the state rid of such miscreants. BREAKING: NANS suspends June 12 protest, distances self from ‘Buhari-must-go’ campaign

  By Kayode Oyero The National Association of Nigerian Students has suspended its planned June 12 nationwide protest, reported The Punch Newspaper. NANS President, Sunday Asefon, made this known in a statement on Friday morning. It was titled, ‘NANS Suspends June 12 Protest Over Concerns About Safety Of Protesters And Fear Of Possible Hijack By Politicians – Comrade Sunday Asefon’. According to the NANS president, the planned protest was aimed at decrying the insecurity in the country, especially the serial abductions of students. However, Asefon said some politicians with “different agenda” have perfected plans to hijack the protest to “ventilate their political opinions and sentiments”. He also said the students’ body was not associated with the secessionist campaign or the ‘Buhari-must-go’ campaign slated to hold on Saturday by some politicians and activists. FG Declares Monday Public Holiday To Mark Democracy Day

Shun Any Agitation That Threatens Nation's Unity - Aregbesola  The Federal Government has declared Monday, 14 June, 2021 as public holiday to mark this year's Democracy Day celebration. The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated Nigerians on this occasion and urged all citizens to support the present administration in its efforts at ensuring a United and prosperous Nation. Aregbesola said any form of agitation that threatens the unity of the country should be shunned for the good of all, saying the space known as Nigeria would be a haven of peace, unity and progress if all citizens love his or her neighbour and  embrace the spirit of brotherliness.
