US Demands Justice on #EndSARS Killings

The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has said America is keenly waiting for the federal and Lagos State governments to take action on the report of the judicial panel of inquiry, which probed the alleged killing of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers and policemen on the night of October 20, 2020 at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos. The eight-man panel, led by retired Justice Doris Okuwobi, had submitted a 309-page report on Monday, indicting soldiers and police and affirming that security agents killed peaceful protesters. Affirming the widespread description of the Lekki toll gate incident as a massacre, the panel, in its report, declared at least nine persons were killed by security agents at the toll gate. The panel report listed 48 names as casualties of the Lekki incident out of which 22 protesters sustained gunshot injuries, while 15 others were assaulted by soldiers and police. It listed the names of the deceased as Victor Sunday Ibanga, Abuta Solomon, Jide, Olalekan A

SANWO-OLU: ATTACKERS OF SECURITY AGENTS WILL FACE JUSTICE

The government of Lagos State has noted with deep concern attacks on law enforcement agents by hoodlums. Such senseless attacks are attempts to trample on law and order by those who are desperate to turn our society upside down. This will not be allowed to happen.   In the latest of such attacks, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Kazeem Abonde, was killed on September 23, 2021 in Ajao Estate by yet unknown hoodlums. I have directed the Commissioner of Police to ensure that all those who participated in this savagery are brought to justice. This is to encourage our law enforcement agents that we will always stand by them as they carry out their duties and, at the same time, send a strong signal to criminals that any attack on our officers will not go unpunished.   Such display of savagery as the one in which CSP Abonde died will not be allowed in our state, no matter the circumstances. The law is there for us all, should there be need to redress any perceived wrongdoing. Citiz

DELIBERATE ABSENCE AT PEPPERITO'S 1YR REMEMBRANCE PRAYER IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LATE SENATOR'S WILL

By Osuolale Olalekan  Tuesday 15th of July, 2021 made it exactly one year that the Late philanthropist and politician, Senator Zikirulahi Adebayo Osinowo left this sinful world.  His death was really a shock that created a vacuum which is yet to be filled in the political sphere of Greater Kosofe and Lagos East Senatorial District. His party, All Progressives Congress is sorely still missing him. That some followers of the Late Senator organized a One-year Remembrance Prayer for the deceased is not a crime or a bad thing to do but to hear some elements castigating some ardent disciples of PEPPERITO for being absent at the program is uncalled for! Moreover, it was learnt that the Late Senator Bayo Osinowo stated categorically before his death that NOBODY SHOULD SIT ANYWHERE, ANYDAY OR ANYTIME doing a Rememberance prayer for him or doing a program in his name. No wonder members of the deceased family were not in attendance at the said Remembrance Prayer. Hence, portraying those that ar

ASIWAJU TINUBU JUNE 12, 2021 DEMOCRACY DAY STATEMENT

JUNE 12, 2021 DEMOCRACY DAY STATEMENT BY ASIWAJU TINUBU   On this day, I join with all Nigerians in commemorating Democracy Day. The book of the life of this nation has many chapters already written and many more yet to be written.    One of the most profound and inspiring accounts that shall be written of our nation’s history will be the chapter on how we moved from the darkness of authoritarian military suppression into the light of democracy and the establishment of popular government based on the sovereign will of the people.    On this memorable day, we mark, with respect, and honor the sacrifices that have allowed democracy to come to pass. We also celebrate in anticipation of a future in which our democratic institutions, concepts and practices take firmer root; transforming this society from what it is to what it can be.    The pages of our national book inexorably turn. We have seen and experienced much. Victory and setback have entered and exited. The departure of friend an
