Flooding: Council boss ride bike to sympathize with affected communities

Mayoress on a bike in flood

As riverine areas of Lagos and Ogun States are currently facing the challenges of flooding, inhabitants of the affected communities keep high their hopes of government interventions.

The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-isheri Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, popularly called MAYORESS, to the admiration of the residents of Isheri North GRA, River Bank Estate, and Ajegunle communities, assessed the flood situation on a bike, and walked through it to sympathize with the affected residents, on Monday.

While Mayoress, accompanied by some councilors and her executive team, paid an unannounced visit to the affected communities, she sympathized with the residents and implored them to be cautious and prevent mishaps.

Princess Samiat Bada assured the residents of working with the State Government, Senate and Assemblies representatives, towards bringing lasting solutions to the flood issue.

As a form of succor, she donated food palliatives to the some communities, as she thanked them for the trust reposted in her administration.

"I urge those who feel the situation is beyond what they could bear to kindly relocate till the flood abates. I feel your pains. My heart is where my community is", she said.

Findings revealed that the perennial flood is caused by the sudden and excessive release of water from the Oyan River Dam.

The dam, is managed by the Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority, and it is located at Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun state.
