Yuletide Season: Senator Abiru cheers constituents; distributes 8,500 food packs

Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, of the Lagos East Senatorial District, has distributed over 8,500 food packs to his constituents for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. These packs, containing rice, beans, and garri, were simultaneously distributed across the 16 Local Governments/Local Council Development Areas of the Senatorial District.

The initiative targeted vulnerable groups within the district, including widows, individuals with physical disabilities, unemployed youths, women, and the elderly. Additionally, trade associations, youth organisations, religious bodies, party members, leaders, and traditional rulers were among other beneficiaries. To ensure wider and more inclusive reach, individuals shortlisted from online nominations also received these packs. This approach aimed to support more residents, especially young people in need, during the festive season.

Beneficiaries from various collection centres in Ikorodu, Kosofe, Somolu, Epe, and Ibeju-Lekki expressed their profound gratitude to Senator Abiru for his continual support, especially during challenging times.

They highlighted Senator Abiru's significant achievements, including the facilitation of notable projects like hospitals, sports centres, markets, and the empowerment of constituents, particularly through his iconic SAIL Innovation Lab project. His consistent support for party members, leaders, and constituents, especially during festive periods, was also acknowledged.

Previously, in June 2023, Senator Abiru initiated the quarterly Food Packs Programme. This programme was a direct response to the economic challenges faced by grassroots communities following the removal of the petroleum subsidy.

It is also important to note that this is not Senator Abiru's first direct humanitarian effort for those in need. He previously disbursed more than N150 million Naira over 24 months to over 2,500 vulnerable individuals under his COVID-19 Financial Relief Scheme. Each beneficiary received a monthly direct credit of N5,000 throughout the duration of the programme.
