The newly inaugurated Chairman of Shukura Yam Sellers Association, Mile 12 International Market, Alhaji Dandama Yabo, expressed happiness on his assumption of office as he described it as an opportunity to serve, while he promised to bring monumental developments to the market.

Debunking the rumors in some corners that he was imposed as a Chairman, he said in Hausa: "I was called upon by the people to lead them as the Chairman. All executives, market men and women and community members are happy with my emergence and they gave their full support. Local government owns the land and they organized election and inaugurated us. No one imposed me."

"This role is an opportunity to serve, and I can assure you, it is what I have been doing before now. When I was the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of this same association, there's a section of the market called 'Wasa-Wasa' market. I refurbished the market, constructed drainages, fixed lights and created parking space for goods offloading.

"Also, when I was appointed as Caretaker Chairman, I met huge debts owed to different stakeholders including the local government; these debts have been there since the tenure of the past LCDA Chairman, and we cleared them all. These and more are what made the marketers and other stakeholders garnered support for me to be the Chairman of Shukura market", affirmed Alhaji Dandama.

Further, he applauded the activities of Ikosi-isheri LCDA under the leadership of Mayoress Samiat Bada, calling her a workaholic Chairman.

He said: "all marketers are appreciative of the tremendous efforts of the LCDA Chairman, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, in terms of infrastructure, social welfare and other facets, especially her ongoing intervention in Mile 12 International Market. We are fully in support of Mayoress and as they do say, one good term deserves another".

Conclusively, he assured all stakeholders of unprecedented developments in the market. "In sha Allah, I am saying that new developments would commence in the market and we will pay our taxes and levies as at when due", stated Dandama.
