PCRC ALAPERE DIVISION MARKS 40TH ANNIVERSARY WITH ROAD SHOW & MEDICAL OUTREACH IN PARTNERSHIP WITH TA'AWUN NGO

 

Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Alapere Division, under the Chairmanship of Hon. Odutona Ayodele, partners TA'AWUN NGO to organize a medical outreach in celebration of PCRC 40th anniversary.

On Monday, the anniversary celebration started with a sensitization walk which progressed from Alapere Divisional Police Station and culminated at Agboyi-ketu LCDA Secretariat, where the PCRC members were addressed by the Executive Chairman, Mayor Dele Osinowo. 

In his remark, the Council Chairman, Mayor Osinowo commended the tremendous efforts of the PCRC in upholding peace in the LCDA and promised to ensure they get the necessary support from the government.


The program also featured a medical outreach, in partnership with Ta'awun Heath Forum. Hundreds of Police officials and community members were beneficiaries of blood pressure check, blood sugar test, HIV and other series of tests. 

Highlighting the essence of the event, the PCRC Chairman, Hon. Odutona Ayodele, stated the theme of the event as "Community Policing at its best".

"The theme of this year's anniversary has a special focus on curbing social menace like Drug addiction, Cultism, Kidnapping and Terrorism. This is is the essence of the sensitization walk", he said. 

Further, he recounted some achievements of the organization, viz: construction of a multipurpose hall in the station, construction of DPO guest house, furnishing of the station's offices, repair of patrol vehicles, among others. "I must commend the DPO Alapere division, CSP Dogo K. Philips for his maximum cooperation", he added. 

The Secretary of the association, Princess Oluwaseun Abegunde, described PCRC as a non-governmental organization that caters for welfare of the police and serves as a bridge between the police and the community. "During EndSars for example, it was due to the efforts of PCRC Alapere Division that neither was the police division attacked nor any officer brutalized."

"My advise to our people out there is to embrace the goodwill of policing by encouraging peace in the community and see the police as their friends. 




In his address, Mr. Taiwo Lasisi, Director of Ta'awun NGO Ikeja/Kosofe LGs, appreciated the PCRC members for their interventions. He then stated that the free health mission is one of the programs of Ta'awun. Others include Free education and charity programs, mentorship and political forum, zero-interest cooperatives and security services.

In his roundup address, the Chief Medical Officer of Ta'awun Health Forum, Alhaji Aranyo Babatunde, advised present officers and residents to take proper care of their health and rest well henceforth, as the tests taken so far showcased high BP, ulcer, stress and diabetes cases. "I urge you to watch what you eat as there is difference between eating well and eating fine", he concluded.

IKOSI-ISHERI LCDA: Community Stakeholders and appointees gets six cars

 Merriment and praises fill the atmosphere as the Mayoress of Ikosi-isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, handed over 6 car keys to beneficiaries at the council secretariat, on Monday.   In a significant development within the political landscape of Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area, the incumbent Executive Chairman, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, popularly called MAYORESS, has garnered widespread support for a second term. This endorsement comes from various key stakeholders, including the legislators, executives, party executives, and the vibrant youth population. On Monday, the seven members of the local legislative body under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Yinusa Salami, thrown their weight behind the chairman's bid for a second term. A motion for  endorsement was moved by the Majority Leader and Councilor representing Ward E, Hon. Gbadegoke Adekoya; this was seconded by the Ward A Councilor, Hon. Folashade Akinpelu, and it was unanimously adopted by the legislators.
